Yellow Trailing Gazania (gazania rigens)

Main Menu Yellow Trailing Gazania (gazania rigens)

Description:

Yellow flowers on green leaves. Grows as a ground cover. Fire resistant and needs little water. These are often found on highway hillsides and you will see them on hillsides and lawns in Ladera Heights. They spread rapidly if not carefully controlled and will crowd out other plants.

Control:

If not maintained, this plant will spread and overtake other nearby plants. It will also start to look messy, especially if the flowers are left to go to seed. Seeds are of the puff-ball variety, but significantly more dense than the dandelion. I had large patches of Gazania in my yard and I have been slowly removing it and replacing it with other plants.
