We have had AT&T for only about six months, but are experiencing a
similar problem. There is some type of disruption of service which
causes a break in program/picture.

Hello I've had AT&T Uverse for about 5 months now and have very few
issues. The only problem I have is since the technicians installed
their equipment my DVD player and surround sound don't work with the T
V. This is probably a quick fix but they won't come back out without
charging and I don't have the energy or time to fight this battle
right now.

If you are having problems with Time Warner Cable or AT&T and you are
unable to get it resolved, contact the County of Los Angeles for

I had that problem a couple of years ago. After a couple of visits,
one smart guy did come and changed the wire from the pole to the
house. The previous guy said he couldn't climb the pole because of a
tree. Basically he just didn't want to climb it. The guy said the
squirrels ruin the wires sometimes. They also have a new type of
wires. Anyway our cable has been good since then.
Good luck

We live in lower Ladera and have had the U-verse service since July
and have not faced what you are dealing with. In fact we are
extremely happy to be done with Time Warner Cable, especially now that
they have the new, higher capacity set top boxes. We did have on
brief period (about one day) of pixilation and freeze-ups, but it
turned out that it was due to some loose connections within some
cables in our home. AT&T helped us correct that problem. When the
problem first surfaced, I looked at some U-verse related chat sites
online and others who had pixilation and freezing problems said that
it turned out that it was due to intermittent lose connections either
within their own homes or on the lines leading into the home.
Since in your case the problem hits both your internet and television
service, it would suggest that the problem is right at the modem or
upstream from there. Has AT&T replaced the connectors on the cables
going into and out of the modem and checked to see if the cables are
in good condition?
Anyway, good luck getting it corrected. I would sure hate to learn
that we are going to have service problems with a competitor to Time
Warner.

I have internet only with ATT. ATT technician decided that the
problem was that I was very "far" from the hub which is supposed to be
located around Vernon and 8th. Because I am so far, I have a "weak"
internet signal and loose connections some times. I'm really sorry to
hear that other persons are having difficulty as well. The solution
presented to me:
Upgrade the "box" -- they do wear out
Hope this feedback helps. Best for you.

One ATT technician told me that the fiber optics cable doesn't go to
the home: it stops at some box on the telephone poles. Then the data
flows through copper wire to each home. I have wondered if that is the
problem. How can all that data flowing through the broadband fiber
optic pipes not get impeded when it meets the less broad copper pipes?
If I'm right then Uverse will not be satisfactory until the copper
wires are all replaced with broadband fiber optics. Time Warner runs a
broadband cable to each home it services.

I bought a HD tuner and receive excellent picture over the air for
around 60 high definition channels! I hate paying money to the cable
company every month

Hi, same problem in Old Ladera. Don"t have Uverse but AT&T DSL drops
out every night. Same issues with tech service. Complained to customer
service and I pay half price. Thanks for the heads up. I was waiting
on Uverse to correct the problem.

AT&T couldn't get our phone working. I didn't trust that they would be
able to get anything else right from that point on. Cable Modem from
Timewarner ($30) + Dishnetwork ($50+ 2 HD DVRs) + MagicJack for Phone
service ($20/year) is working out well for a total less than $90/month

I live in lower Ladera and also have the pixlation problem with AT&T
Uverse. In the beginning it was really bad, but like you, I had techs
out several times. Today, its somewhat better, but it still happens. I
believe the pixlation problem has to do with the telephone cable
length which is probably to long. I believe AT&T advertises that
Uverse rides on fiber optic cable. This is somewhat misleading.
It may be fiber part of the way, but in Ladera, the telephone cable to
the homes is not fiber. Uverse is new technology riding on old
telephone cable lines.
I have a friend who lives in Walnut. Has Verizon "Vios" which is
comparable to AT&T Uverse.. Verizon installed fiber underground
straight into his garage. He is very satisfied with the quality of
service and has a crystal clear picture.

We switched to U-verse this summer & encountered severe problems after
the first month. It would crash (no phone, tv or internet) at first
for a few hours then for 24 hour periods or more. Long story short, it
took many long hours on the line with tech support & multiple house
calls (like yours, with a different diagnosis each time) before they
determined the installation tech had used the existing cat3 cabling
rather than running new cat5 cables. Since then (about 1 month now)
we've had no more crashes and "only" have the annoying transmission
distortion problems that you have. I'm waiting for a little free time
before rejoining the battle, but now am very glad DirecTV didn't take
their dish when I switched

I made the mistake in changing from Direct TV to Uverse, after
multiple problems, we have gone back to Direct TV with no problems.
